We are moving from Columbus, Ohio, to Chillicothe, Ohio, where Charlotte Eliza Trego (27) lived, loved, and was lost to her child, family, and friends. She wasn’t lost as in she got lost, but she went missing.
Charlotte was a loud and happy child. Her family spent time together fishing and enjoying the outdoors when she was growing up. She was the youngest in her family. Her mother and father delighted in watching her grow.
In 2002, Charlotte’s father passed away from prostate cancer. It broke the hearts of everyone, but Charlotte took it the hardest. Her mother, Yvonne told Dateline that it changed Charlotte. The talkative teenager was no longer loud and outgoing. It was like she was slipping away from her family and going someplace they could not follow.
At 16 Charlotte got pregnant by a boy she went to school with. He wanted to marry her, but Yvonne wouldn’t allow it to happen because he had a record of drug use.
As hard as Yvonne tried to keep drugs away from her, Charlotte was already taking drugs and would slip into addition before anyone even realized it.
