Eastern Kentucky Corruption Part 3
Harassment of a female police officer.
On March 30th, 2024 a call came in directly to Chief Darren Williams instead of 911 over a road rage incident. The now ex-Chief Williams went to the alleged perpetrator’s house choked the person and then the person was arrested by other officers.
At the time the Deputy Chief of the Hazard Police Department, Jessica Cornett filed a memorandum to the city manager Tony Eversole. The reason the memorandum was sent to the city manager was because he was the immediate supervisor. The incident wasn’t investigated at all.
Two days after she sent the memorandum she was punished for it. She was demoted from deputy chief to captain. She was also served with a disciplinary citing several untrue things like insubordination, failure to follow orders, cursing and abusing subordinates.
After the demotion, she filed a complaint against the city and chief in Perry County Circuit Court.
The following day ex-Chief Darren Williams pinned the complaint to the wall in the Hazard Police Department. A few days later officers were sent to her house to pick up her cruiser.
A month later, she was put on the night shift. Willimas had her moved to night shift knowing she had an infant son and could not work nights.
