Hattie Yvonne Jackson
Missing 6-year-old from Washington D.C in 1961
Hattie Jackson was 6 years old when she left her home with her older brother and his friends to go swimming on July 21, 1961. It was hot out, and they wanted to play and cool off, so they made their way to Rock Creek Park to swim in the creek in Washington D.C. She would never be seen again.
While they were splashing around and being children, a police officer noticed them. He told them to get out of the water because it was dirty and polluted.
They got out and an unknown white man volunteered to drive them two miles away to a clean swimming spot. The kids declined and started playing again. We do not know how much time passed before the boys realized she was missing, but just like that Hattie Jackson was gone.
The police were contacted, and the search was on for Hattie. Several people saw two men helping Hattie into a blueish-gray colored Chrysler which was possibly Plymouth. The man’s description of the driver fits the description the boys gave of the mysterious man who offered to take them to another swimming spot.
