The killing of Dominique Dunne
Dominique Dunne played the role of Dana Freeling in the 1982 movie called, Poltergeist. It was the eighth-highest-grossing of 1982. In the years after its release, it gained a vast cult following, and today is known as a horror classic.
The movie hit the big screens on June 4th, 1982. By November 4th, Dominique would be dead at the hands of John Thomas Sweeney, a sous chef she met in 1981. He was physically and mentally abusive. She would end up leaving him, but it wouldn’t do any good. She made the mistake of agreeing to speak to him outside of her house on October 30th. It was then that he would strangle her. She didn’t die right away. She slipped into a coma and died five days later on November 4th, 1982.
Aftermath:
While she was being strangled another actor and friend inside her home by the name of, David Parker. They had been rehearsing for the series V. After she went outside Parker heard the screaming and called the police. He was told it wasn’t their jurisdiction. He would hang up the phone and call another friend telling them if he was killed tonight that John Sweeney did it. He finally went outside to see Sweeney kneeling in the bushes and over Dominique who was lying on the ground.
