Melissa Anne Smith — October 18th, 1974
Melissa Anne Smith was the daughter of the police Chief of Midvale Utah. Like all 17-year-olds she was active socially. She met a friend at the local pizza place and after eating she left to get some clothes for a slumber party. She was never seen again until nine days later when her body was found in Summit Park which is east of Salt Lake City in the mountains. She had been beaten, raped and strangled. The pathologist said she remained alive for up to seven days. It’s believed he posed as a police officer to get her. She would be compliant because her father was a police officer.
Laura Ann Aime — October 31st, 1974
Laura, also 17, was at a Halloween party the night she was taken, the party was not really happening and she got bored with it. Around 10PM she left to get cigarettes. Laura would hitchhike from place to place, that night wasn’t any different when she stuck her thumb out and a friend picked her up. She was on her way to The Knotty Pine in Lehi. Just like the party she got bored at The Knotty Pine and walked or hitchhiked to Robinson Park. There is a lot of speculation about certain parties when she got to Lehi which are proven, but there was an eyewitness that said…
